Vision –

Wessington Primary School is a nurturing, welcoming, cheerful school where children’s rights are at the heart of our ethos and culture. We continuously strive to ensure we build a community that supports each child to develop a healthy mind, body and spirit to prepare them to meet the challenges of their future as responsible citizens.

In pursuit of this vision, we aim to:

  • Provide a nurturing, welcoming, cheerful and stimulating place of learning where children feel safe.
  • Ensure the values and principles of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child are at the heart of everything we do in school
  • Develop a whole school community where children excel in their achievements and are inspired to grow and reach their full potential.
  • Encourage everyone to make a positive contribution to our school and the wider community, ensuring inclusion and respect for all by encouraging and celebrating achievement.
  • Maintain high expectations of behaviour and learning based on positivity and praise.
  • Provide a broad and balanced curriculum which is designed to encourage independence and curiosity as well as challenging children to strive for academic, creative, sporting and personal accomplishment.
  • Deliver a curriculum through a variety of approaches which enables our children to become resilient and self-assured
  • Develop strong links and working relationships between home, school, partner schools and the local community.
  • Ensure every child has amazing play of high quality every day
  • Teach children how to create a more sustainable world and become a climate friendly school
  • Promote respectful attitudes and actively encourage all stake holders to have a voice in our school.
