Scroll down to see some of the amazing things we’ve been up to in and out of class, as well as homework and topic content.
World Cup Penalty Shoot Out
The whole school celebrated the World Cup by having a penalty shoot out and competing against other classes… You may recognise our goal keeper (former Sunderland AFC player Julio Arca!)
Year 1, with recpetion and nursery children have been making clay faces to scare away the tree trolls in our forest school linked to the tree troll story. It is to help the children to respect and help look after our trees in forest school and to help protect our trees.
They have also been learning how to climb a tree safely.
National Story Telling Week
To celebrate National Story Telling Week, Year one were invited to Washington Town Centre Library. We listened to a story, took part in craft activities and had the opportunity to explore the lovely selection of library books.
This term in forest school we helped build our bird hide, making a fence so that more people could use it to see all the critters that call our forest school home. We also used a bow saw under the watchful eye of our forest school leader Mrs Burnikell.
Year 1 enjoyed their PE session with Miss Marshall, they tried different balances, ways to travel and looked like the next generation of gymnastic superstars.
In Science this week we have been learning about materials. We found out that a wellington boot made out of paper would be silly because paper isn’t waterproof. We thought of some other silly ideas e.g. a glass football and a wooden jumper and used scientific words to explain why these ideas were silly.
